WELCOME TO MIAMI

Cynthia Simpson

The count down begins! Before I jump the broom, I wanted to spend some much needed time with my girls. Miami was just the place to get away and soak in the sun.

HOTEL
We stayed at The Jetset Franklin right in the heart of South Beach on Collins Ave. The hotel has loft style apartments that are fully furnished with a kitchen, perfect for large groups or families. They provide fresh bath and beach towels everyday and the people that work there are extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel is a short walk from the beach and nightlife.

When you walk into the lobby they have a cool café called The Hub, which serves gourmet coffee, delicious pastries and sandwiches. This was a bonus, especially after a long night out and about.

BEACH FUN
The beaches in Miami are beautiful and the water is so clear! If you are like me and love laying out in the sun, don't slack on the sunscreen even if you have darker skin. The sun can and will burn you regardless of this crazy idea that having more melanin means you are protected from the sun.  I really love CVS Sheer Mist Spray. It's oil free and doesn't leave a white film that some sunscreens leave behind. It's also really easy to put on and has a pleasant scent.

Since I have been planning my wedding, I recently discovered the power of meditation. It has opened my mind and has given me a new way to focus on the things that are important in life. I am telling you, meditation is an amazing tool that will change your life and help you see things in a new light. The beach was a perfect place to get centered and in touch with myself. I will write a full blog post about what I have learned and how you can get into meditating.

GREAT EATS
There are alot of great spots to eat in Miami; Havana 1957 on Española Way is one you have to try out! They have great food and tasty mojitos served in cute mason jars.

El Pub, in Little Havana, is a Cuban restaurant with a diner type feel. They have large portions and the best Cuban coffee I have ever tasted. The sweet plantains and cuban sandwiches hit the spot after a relaxing afternoon on the beach.

COOL SPOTS
Wynwood Walls is one of the coolest places in Miami where you can see large scale graffiti art work all in one place. The murals go beyond the walls and into the neighborhood displaying expressive creativity from local artist. This area gave me a Williamsburg feel with the outdoor seating areas and young hipster crowd.

We stopped into the Wood Tavern for drinks at a really great price. The outdoor seating area, tasty tacos and life size jenga made this bar a place to remember. They even had portable cell chargers that you could carry around with you!

Miami was a great place to have my bachelorette weekend and I really appreciate my ladies for taking the time to make me feel so special. Love you!
